Inaugural Ceremony

National Conference on “Animal Breeding Strategies in the Era of Genomics and Phenomics” was organized by the Indian Society of Animal Genetics and Breeding and ICAR-National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources was organized at Karnal, 17 December 2021 through hybrid mode.   Dr.Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General, ICAR, the chief guest in his keynote address impressed upon the need to develop networking with various AICRPs and other agencies for phenomics. He emphasized to do research on epi-genomics to understand adaptability  and other traits underlying animal productivity. He further said that contribution of the animal genetic resources of the country in enhancing farmers’ income is invaluable and our Indigenous Breeds are our assets for future. The Guest of Honour Dr Moti Lal Madan Former DDG (AS) and former VC Mathura and Akola stated to work on physio genomics and to optimize reproductive technologies for enhancing the productivity.  Dr KM Bujarbaruah, Former DDG (AS), & Former VC AAU, Assam stated a need to work on expression profiling and meta genomics. Dr B P Mishra Director NBAGR welcomed all the delegates and dignitaries and also informed about the efforts undertaken by NBAGR on different aspects of management of Animal Genetic Resources of India. Dr T J Rasool President ISAGB also welcomed the delegates and appreciated efforts of NBAGR for organizing the conference.  Dr. Vineet Bhasin Secretary briefed about the activities of the society.  Dr M Mukesh organizing secretary briefed about various session of the conference. Dr P Thangaraju and Dr T J Rassol were awarded lifetime achievement and fellow of ISAGB.  Dr R K Sethi, Dr R S Gandhi, Dr Vineet Bhasin, Dr B P Mishra and DR V K Saxsena were awarded fellow of ISAGB.
